WASHINGTON LOW INCOME HOUSING ALLIANCE SEEKS MOBILIZATION COORDINATOR
TITLE: Mobilization Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
SUMMARY: This position will help develop and implement WLIHA’s mobilization program to increase the number and diversity of voices working toward the goal of providing an affordable home for everyone in Washington. This includes increasing the Alliance’s membership, developing strategic partnerships with other organizations, and building a base of individual supporters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Alliance is a collaborative work environment where all employees participate in planning and carrying out the organization’s mission and goals. This position is specifically responsible for the following:
Manage non-partisan voter registration and mobilization program:
- Develop partners in local communities;
- Provide training for agency staff and volunteers;
- Develop and disseminate voter materials;
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers to do voter registration and GOTV;
- Track newly registered voters and voter turnout.
Build base of grassroots supporters:
- Recruit and train new advocates;
- Identify and develop advocacy leaders across the state;
- Mobilize base of advocates to participate in lobby days, online actions, community forums and other advocacy opportunities.
- Plan and coordinate community forums on affordable housing;
Plan statewide housing and homelessness advocacy day:
- Coordinate turnout and registration;
- Prepare written and other materials;
- Coordinate with speakers, volunteers, vendors, and other partners.
Manage electronic advocacy:
- Assist in development and maintenance of online advocacy center;
- Oversee regular communication with online advocates;
- Increase the number and diversity of online relationships;
- Track and report on metrics for online advocacy.
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College graduate or commensurate experience.
- Experience with program development.
- Volunteer management experience helpful.
- At least 2 years experience in community organizing, campaign management, or voter registration/mobilization.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong organizational identity and relationships with co-workers.
- Access to personal transportation and ability to travel statewide.
- A commitment to social and economic justice and to ensuring a safe affordable home for everyone.
- Strong computer skills and an understanding of and commitment to using technology to create social change.
BENEFITS:
Salary $42,000 – $50,000 depending upon experience. Benefits include health and dental insurance, retirement, vacation, sick leave, and generous holiday schedules.
